| The retreat centre for nuns, was built on the east ridge in 1983. It was the first three year three month retreat centre for women outside of Tibet, and the first time that retreat facilities for nuns were included in a monastic setting. The retreat centre includes a shrine hall, an apartment for visiting teachers, and rooms for fifteen retreat
participants. Seven nuns completed the first retreat, twelve the second and fourteen the third. Jangchub Samten Ling has recently been refurbished and expanded. The nuns retreat started in 2001 and is due to complete in Tibetan new year 2005, at the same time as the monks' retreat. |
