EcologySherab Ling, the seat of the XIIth Tai Situpa in India, is situated in the gentle pine forested foothills of the Kangra valley. The calmness is broken only by the songs of birds and the peace is complimented by it's isolation. Sherab Ling is blessed with an ideal environment. The thirty acres of land are formed by three south sloping ridges. The development is balanced with nature; so as not to destroy the growth of trees and plants the future buildings are all to be located on the ridges of the hills or in forest glades. Only one road runs through Sherab Ling, but natural footpaths and tracks wind through the forest. The continuing ecological balance is very important to the community. It is hoped that future energy and waste disposal systems will be able to use the latest ecological technology, (water recycling, solar energy, gas from sewage and paper recycling, etc.). |
