Khenpo Tashi Gyaltsen
Khenpo Tashi Gyaltsen was born in Nangchen, Kham, Tibet in 1970 to a family of farmers. He went to school and worked on the farm until he chose to become a monk from Drubchen Karma Norbu Rinpoche at the monastery of Bardo Tulku Rinpoche, Ratrul Monastery, when he was14 years old. A year later he received the Rinchen Terdzo empowerments from Gyalmo Tulku Rinpoche, and Benchen Chime Tulku Rinpoche, and when he was 16 he entered a meditation retreat for a year.

He then went to Chamdo to study the Uma & Dzogchen texts from the renowned Khenpo Karma Tseten Rinpoche and at 18 joined the Chanmar Ritrug Rigmey College where he studied grammar & poetry for a year before joining the Nyingma Arek Shedra in Amdo. He spent 6 years under Khenpo Pentse Rinpoche, and 3 years under Khenpo Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche studying the Nyingmapa, Kagyupa, and Sakyapa viewpoints to the Uma, Partsen, Durwa, Ngonpa, Tsenma, the 5 Yang Karpo, and Dzogpa Chenpo amongst others.

When he was 27 he went to Drepung Monastery in Lhasa, central Tibet where he studied the Gelugpa viewpoints to the Tsema, Pertsa and Uma, for two years whereupon he went to India and at the invitation of the Tai Situpa, became a professor at Sherab Ling monastic college in 1999.
