The PagodaThe pagoda was opened during the celebration week (during November 2000) to mark the 300th birthday of the XIIth Tai Situpa (Chokyi Jugne). When the Tai Situpa escaped from Tibet in 1959 some of his relics and sacred objects were saved along with him. Amongst them is a precious relic of the VIII Tai Situpa. The Tai Situpa had the wish to build a special pagoda for the relic to act as a source of inspiration and blessing for the community. The shrine hall houses a stupa for the relic. Running alongside the stupa on either side are 3ft clay statues of the 11 Tai Situpas in an elaborately carved wooden cabinet. On the shrine wall are statues of the Kamtsang Kagyu lineage arranged in the form of the refuge tree. This quiet place invites visitors to rest, contemplate, and regenerate their inspiration. |
