Marpa 1012-1097

In the period of the later spread of Buddhism, the Tai Situ appeared as the spiritual heart son of the eminent Naropa and Metripa, the deity Joyous Vajra (Hevajra) appearing in human form, known as Marpa the Translator from Lhodrak.

Marpa is renowned throughout the Tibetan Himalayan region as the source of the river which became the ocean of accomplished masters of the Oral Instruction (Kagyu) Lineage.
